OUR SCHOOL
"C.RA. LOS SAUCES"
Our
school is located in the Alcarria and Serrania area in Cuenca. Some years ago there were many children, but
now only a few, about 75 students.
There
are only three buildings in Cañamares, Cañizares and Albalate de las Nogueras,
but there are children from other towns…
CAÑAMARES

km from Cuenca, it´s a place which marks the boundary of the Alcarria with the Serrania of Cuenca.
It´s
an ideal place to enyoy nature.
It
has a population of 549 inhabitants; it is the biggest town of the area and it
is the head of the centre. It is mainly engaged in the field and the wicker.
The
town´s patron is San Millán, celebrated on 12th November.
You
can visit the church and the Escabas River. It´s a good place to go swimming in
summer.
LA FRONTERA
Located 43 kilometers from Cuenca, between Albalate
de las Nogueras and Cañamares, limit the
region of the Highlands, Campichuelo and
Alcarria.
It
has 230 inhabitants mainly dedicated to agriculture and livestock, especially
swine.
Among
its most interesting sights you can visit the shrine of Our Lady of
Bethlehem and the Christ of San Isidro.
Their
patterns are St. Andrew (November 30) and the Virgin of Bethlehem (in August).

ALBALATE DE
LAS NOGUERAS
The
town is located in the region of Cuenca Alcarria and has a population of 296
inhabitants. It is located between Albalate and Trabaque rivers.
The main sites of interest that we can visit are the Hoz del Trabaque river, the church of Our Lady of the Assumption, the hill of Santa Quiteria, a medieval bridge and a museum.

TORRALBA

km from Cuenca you can find this town founded by the Romans which has 164
inhabitants, mainly dedicated to agriculture and the production of honey.
In it we find interesting sights like the Arab ruins of Torre-Alba (seated on a hill with more than 200 caves cellar, typical of the region and still used to make wine hill), Roman mines, the olma council (the largest living specimen of the province), the shrine of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves and numerous old houses whose architecture and arrangement shows that at the time was a walled town.

CAÑIZARES
Charming little village, serrano
atmosphere and very modernized, located 79 km from Cuenca and 1137 meters above
the sea.
It has 549 residents and is of compelling interest to visit the shrine of the Virgin of Casares, the church and the many
paths that lead us to enjoy the beautiful scenery and nature at its best.
It is a town steeped in history, as the Romans left their mark in a place known as "rock Written" where there are Roman inscriptions in stone and part of the Roman road that linked Huete with Molina de Aragón.
PUENTE DE
VADILLOS
It is a district of Cañizares. it has
become a surprising industrial hub in the middle of the Serrania with silicon
carbide factory and a bottling plant, Solan de Cabras.
Located in a valley surrounded by mountains, in full highland, with two rivers (Guadiela and Cuervo) flowing into the reservoir of the Chincha., Is close to the town of Beteta.
His numerous roads invite us to visit the dam of Chincha, Tragavivos Beteta and a botanical path next to Guadiela river flowing into the source of Tilos.

Fuertescusa is located about 64 kilometers
from Cuenca, on a hill, with a valley through which flows the stream of Peral,
a tributary of Escabas.
It is a typical mountain village, surrounded by large cliffs and thick pine forests.
Monuments: The parish church of St. Martin, built in the sixteenth century, very charming, with a wooden porch. The tower and with a clock in place of the hollow tower bells.
In the eighteenth century there were three chapels: The San Sebastian, San Juan and Santiago (1585), all missing.
Celebrations: Virgen del Rosario (first Sunday in October).
Saint Martin (11 November).
Summer party or tourist (August 15).
